Plumbing checklist before moving into a new house
Owning a house is a dream for many. Imagine you are super excited by the prospect of moving into a new house, everything goes smoothly, except when you move in you see a tap is damaged. Or there’s a leakage in the guest bedroom. No one likes walking into such surprises. To combat that we have compiled a list of easy plumbing checks to ensure you don’t miss out on anything.
Sinks
Sinks are the first thing you should be checking while doing the house inspection. Broken sinks are a headache, and imagine moving into a new house with broken sinks- yeah, it doesn’t sound good.
Toilets
Toilets rank second on the list because it is as important. Broken toilets cost a lot to fix and it smells equally bad. You should definitely be checking if the toilets flush properly.
Geyser
Geysers are a bit easier to inspect, since having any signs of corrosion implies that it needs replacement. Make sure to verify the last time it got serviced.
Clogging
Clogging issues are easy to diagnose. It is advisable to double check the sinks, toilets and other outlets to check if the water bounces back when you turn the tap on. If you see the water level rushing up while flushing or using the sink, then it means that there are some areas that are definitely clogged.
Bathroom slope
Bathroom slope is something that is easily missed among other things. Sometimes the sloop flooring is in the wrong direction, so you can run the water for sometime and check the direction of flow.
Water pressure
Last but not least, water pressure can definitely make or break your experience of staying in a new house. Your new place might have top notch fixtures and other accessories, but if the water pressure is not there then it’s of no use. Try using all the water outlets simultaneously to measure if there’s any difference in water pressure.
