Signs Your Main Sewer Line is Clogged (Not Just a Sink)
Drain Cleaning
A clogged sink is an annoyance. A clogged main sewer line is an emergency. The main line carries all the waste from your home to the city sewer or septic tank. If it blocks, that waste has nowhere to go but back up into your house.
The Warning Signs
- Multiple Clogs: The toilet, shower, and kitchen sink are all draining slowly at the same time.
- Water Backup: When you flush the toilet, water gurgles up in the shower drain. When you run the washing machine, the toilet overflows.
- Gurgling Sounds: You hear bubbling noises from the toilet when no one is using it.
- Cleanout Overflow: If you have a cleanout cap in your yard, you might see water seeping around it.
What to Do
If you see these signs, stop using water immediately. Do not run the dishwasher or washing machine. Call a professional for a sewer camera inspection immediately.
