How to Unclog a Sink with Baking Soda and Vinegar
Drain Cleaning
You don't always need a pro for a slow bathroom sink. This classic DIY method is safe for all pipes and costs pennies.
The Recipe
1. Remove Standing Water: Bail out as much water as you can.
2. Pour Baking Soda: Dump 1/2 cup of baking soda directly down the drain.
3. Add Vinegar: Pour 1/2 cup of white vinegar down. Cover the drain immediately with a plug or rag.
4. Wait: You will hear fizzing. Let the chemical reaction work for 15-30 minutes. It helps break down soap scum and hair.
5. Flush: Pour a kettle of boiling water down the drain to flush away the loosened debris.
Note: This works best for slow drains, not fully stopped ones. If the water doesn't move at all, you need a plunger or a snake.
