How to Stop an Overflowing Toilet Fast
Toilet Repair
Watching toilet water rise to the brim is a helpless feeling, but you can stop it instantly if you know where to look.
The Emergency Shut-Off
Every toilet has a dedicated water supply valve located on the wall behind it, near the floor.
- 1. Drop to the floor immediately.
- 2. Turn the silver football-shaped valve clockwise (to the right).
- 3. Keep turning until it stops.
This cuts the water supply to the tank. The water in the bowl will stop rising immediately. Once the crisis is averted, you can take your time to plunge the clog or call a plumber.
